salt anyone?
1 Attachment(s)
so i just realized that i was out of Salt in my house....i never use the stuff as an add-on to my food but i guess my nanny must since we're out.
so....rather than just buy generic walmart brand salt for the house i decided to do some internet research to waste my time and enlighten myself.... after a few web pages of info i ordered this one... http://www.saltworks.us/shop/product.asp?idProduct=38 seems a bit pricier than regular table salt but nothing outrageous and they are offering free shipping too....it seems from what i have read that this one is a favorite of many. anyone in here ever use this stuff? |
Re: salt anyone?
never used that brand and i am surprised you dont have at least 50lbs of the stuff somewhere in your preps even if you dont eat it hardly at all.
it has so many other uses and its cheap |
Re: salt anyone?
we use sea salt in a grinder (like a pepper mill)
very tasty on fried Taters! |
Re: salt anyone?
Don't recognize the brand, but I found out that there is quite a market for high-end table salt, some of it outrageously priced!
I only use and cook with sea salt. I found it surprising that one ends up using much less, than the standard store brand table salt and the taste difference is quite profound. |
Re: salt anyone?
There was a thread a while back on salt. A lot of people here liked real salt, I checked them out and have been using it ever since. Great stuff, but a little pricey

Re: salt anyone?
My folks just bring back salt straight from the evaporation flats whenever they go down to Bonaire to SCUBA dive...
good stuff. |
Re: salt anyone?
any type of kosher / sea salt will do you fine.

Re: salt anyone?
I use realsalt, sure it is expensive, but I can really tell the difference. I have 4 unopened 26 oz bags that I bought on sale. I would buy more if i had anywhere to store it. Has gone up significantly in price it seems. I hardly use any salt, these 4 bags will easily last me 2-3 years I bet. All salt is not created equal, I see no reason not to splurge and spend 6-7$ on 26 oz of salt. Of course next time I will probably buy a bigger container to save money

Re: salt anyone?
I have a 20 lb. bag I got at an Asian foods store; they have bulk supplies for restaurants. That's the best way to get a good price.
